Speakerpong is a feedback piece for two speakers and two microphones. It was composed for the opening of the series Echokamer at MediaMatic in Amsterdam.

The audience was placed between the two speakers and was invited to move around, so creating ever changing acoustic characteristics of the space. This created a sort of carpet of sound that filled the space. The sounds opened up a dimension of the space that was not accessible before. Sounds spread out along a kind of acoustic isohypses, creating a sonic landscape in which the audience could move around, moving in and out of sounds.

The space was lit by four big natrium lamps. These gaslamps slowly warmed up during the performance changing from red to yellow, reaching their full intensity halfway the performance.

Speakerpong was realized in collaboration with sound designer Joav Richartz
